Definition:
Verification, also called Design Verification, ensures that design outputs meet the specified requirements from earlier phases of the functional safety lifecycle. This covers the entire lifecycle (see figure 7).
Key Points:
- Verifies compliance with the Safety Requirements Specification (SRS).
- Often involves independent review.
- Distinct from the Functional Safety Assessment (FSA).
Example:
A third-party reviewer checks that the SIS design drawings match the approved SRS before commissioning.
